    Thanks for your honesty. It’s comforting to know that someone who we look up to, as a leader in the church, was in the trap of being a fan as well. That means that THERE IS hope for people like me. I pray that Jesus will help me to grow more in stature and in wisdom each day. So that one day He can say that I was a faithful servant and lived as a true Follower. I thank God for a church that will help me do that.

    hey kyle I have been coming to s.e 4 a while and have been a fan for a long while. yesterday i have made the choice to be a follower but since your sermon was recent then that means that I need prayer to stay a follower.

    I was once a fan, but since you brought it to my attention the difference between a fan and a follower I have completely committed myself to Jesus. I am 11 years old and was baptized last year. But I’ve now gone farther than I ever imagined. I’ve been taking Tarik (he wrote earlier) with me to church for a long time now and it’s good to have a best friend thinking like I do.

    I am not a fan anymore.
    I am a follower.
    Thank you Kyle.
    Praise God.
    Thank you Jesus!

    Kyle;
    I have enjoyed your series from afar as the small church I serve as Sunday School director in Huntington, wv. I am 77 years old and not a fan but a follower, however completely unworthy without our Savior. I feel a big problem in churches today is that people become a fan of Pastors and other leaders and just don’t get it. I was at a conference last year and the speaker said that the biggest problem facing today’s church is compromise and I find this every day as I try to always serve from a biblical world view. I only wish our church could view your series on this important topic. May GOD continue to bless you in such an important ministry.

    Blessings
    Ken

    My daughter, a U of L student, told me about your website. I just copied the Not a Fan Daily Prayer and intend to pray it each day. It has been my intent in my Christian walk to be more than a fan, but I know I have not always lived up to the level of commitment that Jesus asks of me. I have tried to be a godly witness for my daughter and now it is my delight to have her sharing with me through the suggestion of your website. Her father and I have prayed steadfastly for the spiritual growth of all of our children and share the concern of many Christian parents of college-age students that our children may be taken in by the world and be no more than a fan of Christ. I am so happy that our daughter is attending secc and that she is excited about and interested in the sermons that you preach. Thank you for listening to the holy spirit and reaching out to this generation of young people who so desperately need someone to speak their language and yet call them to be totally committed followers of Christ!

    I know now what it mean to surrender and follow. I cant be the man that God wants me to be if i am a fan. I cant be the youth pastor he wants me to be, it time to let go grab my cross and follow. Im not looking back anymore, Jesus is better.
