I heard this story from Matt at Northside, he told this at service a few weeks ago. Actually, I think I saw you that same weekend at the 11 service. This is an awesome story and relates so well with the passage you used. I saw this saying and loved it, thought I would share it with you, “The cross is easier to him who takes it up than to him who drags it along.” God bless you and your family Kyle

Kyle, I just so appreciate your transparency in this journey right now. As a daughter of a minister, I have seen how much can be “held back” on a personal level from the congregation — for whatever reason. I try to be a transparent person, and it’s an encouragement to see others vulnerable in their walk with Christ. It used to be said that faith should be private. It is certainly personal, but it should be anything but private.

WOW. I had the rare opportunity to interact with someone who passionately pursued Jesus. First, I thought she would crazy. Why does would you do those things and have people talk negatively about her. After awhile, I began to look at that person differently. I want so baddly want to be that crazy about my passion for Jesus but I realize that my cross is heavy. I know, his yoke is light but my sin is blocking my view of the truth. Kyle, when you pursued your wife, it was socially acceptable to do crazy things for love. Jesus came to pay for our sins so that love is easy.. his yoke is light. Thank you for your passion.

To be honest, at first I thought that Kyle was suffering from lack of sleep and a little bit delirious here. Then, after I got over the poor choice of bike to ride (Huffy) and the initial “What the heck were you thinking?”, I was able to appreciate the message he was trying to convey. “How passionate am I about the things that I should be most passionate about?” I did say “things” (not a typo) because I realized that as I listened to Kyle’s story here, that not only do I not have the type of passion for my wife that he has, whom I have a better relationship with (or at least know her better) than I do my Lord and Savior; but, I don’t even come close to living up to the passionate desire I should feel towards Jesus. The “missing link” in any and all relationships is our relationship to Christ. The more we understand Him, the more we understand ourselves, and the one’s closest to us. As Andy Stanley put it “It takes three” in a relationship. As we live in the light of Christ’s examples: His character, love, compassion, patience, etc. (fruits of the spirit) we can all understand each other better and have a more effective relationship together (all three of us).

What an awesome story. I heard Matt share that at Northside a few weeks ago. Actually, I think I saw you at the 11 am service that weekend. I love the passage you talked about in this video. It is so easy to say, but so hard to do. Here is a quote you might like about this, “The cross is easier to him who takes it up than to him who drags it along.” God bless you and your family Kyle.

Thank you Kyle for sharing this.
Pursuing with no fear, for the one you love.

At last week sunday May 17th. After I listened to your sermon.
I decided to get baptize. So I was baptized after the sermon.
I was ready. I want to get close to God.
I want to Knock on his door.

Then monday the 18th I keep thinking what can I do to get more close to God.
I ate a corn dog for lunch, and couple pieces toast for dinner.
I used to eat a lot, but dont know why that day just dont feel like eatting.
and it reminded me that a friend had told me. When you fast, you spend your time to read the bible, to pray.
So I decided to fast for 4 days. Only drinks. and its my first time to fast.
    I had no fear.
    Monday night until Saturday morning.
I Start to reading the bible for hours at night and praying day and night.
I learn a lot more, and I tell you all this time there was not a minutes I feel hungry.
I dont feel tired. I stay awake in class, I was full of energy to study.

I here to ask if anyone decided to fast.
Save up the money that is going to spend on food.
Donate the money to the poor, Pray for the poor.
Or go buy food for the homeless you see on the street.
You can donate to the Orphans/homeless.
In Liberia, $30 dollars can feed a orphan for 1 month.

Read Isaiah 58. You will understand.

  8. Leanne says:

I have to say, that for me as a christian wife, I long more to see my husband passionately pursue Christ than to see him passionately pursuing me.

  9. Ken Idleman says:

Son – I am riding on the bike beside you…. Dad

  10. James Foust says:

Great job Kyle and thank you for inspiring many to become deeply committed. I want to encourage you never to quit because you are making a difference for the kingdom.

  11. Noizy says:

I want to have this inspiration. I want to feel passion and pursue Jesus. But it’s really hard for me Kyle to go the extra step and step outside the fanzone. I can’t see him. I can’t hug him. I’m not even doing a really good job of guessing his purpose for me.

  12. katie says:

    Kyle,

I am very confused by your pursuit for Jesus. When you say that you need to take up your cross and follow him what exactly are you saying? What do you need to do? We all go out into the secular world each and every day. Should we correct people when they cuss and lead a sinful life? Is that what you mean when you say that we won’t be popular anymore? Before I became a Christian, I would always ask myself what Christians had that I did not. I think that it was their ability to be kind, loving and accepting to all. Please help me because I am so confused.
    Thanks.

wow, it’s nice to have some good inspiring reading instead of getting on facebook as usual and reading silly daily comments about people’s lives…
i want to carry the cross but as everyone says, it’s a daily battle with “comfort” vs narrow rd to jesus. at least it has people i sit with and have conversations with talking about the bible and christ for a change…i’m proud of wearing my not a fan tshirt…but still working daily on not being a fan
